Ligaya Garden was started in Gawler South, in Kaurna Country, in 2015. It began with just one strawbale bed in the backyard and has now grown into an exciting mess. The garden has helped us become more independent by cutting our bills, reducing our ecological impact as a family, and giving back to our community.
SunRay Literacy Charity (SLC), where we are dedicated to igniting minds and spirits through the powerful social impact of education, health & well-being, sports, and community empowerment. SunRay, which translates to the meaning of Jelina, is dedicated to fostering positive change through various initiatives that champion literacy, education, and personal development.
SunRay’s Art Portfolio
Jelina made her mark in the art world back in 1998, driven by necessity and a deep yearning to connect with her new country. Her artworks became a source of solace and affirmation, blending contemporary and conceptual art processes with her unique design craftsmanship.
Jelina’s Academic Research
Jelina is known for redefining traditional learning by combining art and technology, using video dialogue interviews and data visualization to portray living culture and history.
Collaboration Art Projects
The collaboration between Aunty Ellen and Jelina has created a remarkable collection of sculptural woven artworks. Each piece showcased in this gallery reflects their unified vision, creativity, and unwavering dedication to their craft. By blending traditional Ngarrindjeri weaving techniques with contemporary influences, these artworks are a testament to their artistic prowess and commitment.
